Sugar Free Brownies

Delicious and healthy brownies made without refined sugar, featuring rich cocoa and natural sweetness from apples.

Ingredients

  • 2 apples (cored and peeled)
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup (50 g) cocoa powder
  • ½ tsp baking powder (optional but recommended)
  • 2 to 3 tbsp maple syrup (for sweeter brownies)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ⅙ tsp salt
  • chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a 7×7 inch brownie pan with parchment paper.
  2. Cut the apples into chunks, then add to a blender with eggs, cocoa powder, and optionally baking powder. Blend on high until smooth and free of lumps.
  3. Optionally, add 2 to 3 tablespoons of maple syrup for sweeter brownies.
  4. Transfer the batter to the prepared pan and spread it out evenly with a spatula.
  5. Bake in the hot oven for 20 to 27 minutes, or until the center is no longer raw. Let cool completely at room temperature before slicing.

Notes

For a vegan version, substitute eggs with flax eggs or applesauce. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
