A vibrant and delicious marble cake featuring red, white, and blue swirls, perfect for celebrating Independence Day.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ¾ cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs + 2 egg whites
  • 2 tsp clear vanilla extract
  • 3 cups cake flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • Red food coloring (liquid or gel)
  • Blue food coloring (liquid or gel)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 12-cup bundt pan well.
  2. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in eggs, egg whites, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Sift cake flour, baking powder, and salt together.
  5. Alternate adding dry ingredients and buttermilk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Mix just until combined.
  6. Divide batter into three bowls. Leave one plain, add red food coloring to the second, and blue to the third. Mix gently.
  7. Layer batters in the bundt pan by spooning alternating colors without stirring.
  8. Bake 50-70 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  9. Cool in pan for 15 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack.
  10. Serve plain or with your favorite frosting or whipped cream.
