  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 slices of cheese (American or cheddar)
  • 4 hero rolls or sandwich buns
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Ketchup and mayonnaise (optional)
  • Lettuce and tomatoes for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the chopped onion in a skillet over medium heat until soft.
  2. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Season with salt and pepper. Cook until browned and cooked through.
  3. Place cheese slices on top of the beef and onions. Cover the skillet to melt the cheese.
  4. Split and toast the hero rolls if desired.
  5. Once the cheese has melted, scoop the mixture onto the rolls.
  6. Add ketchup, mayonnaise, lettuce, and tomatoes if desired. Serve hot.
