- Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- Cut the bacon strips in half.
- Wrap each smokie with a half strip of bacon and secure with a toothpick.
- Place the wrapped smokies in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
- Sprinkle with brown sugar and black pepper if desired.
- Cook for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the bacon is crispy.
- Remove from the air fryer and let cool slightly before serving.
