A rich, tantalizing Chicken And Broccoli dish that combines tender chicken and vibrant broccoli in a silky sauce, perfect for a comforting meal.

  • 2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breast
  • 2 cups steamed broccoli florets
  • 1 tbsp rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tbsp cold water
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tbsp corn starch
  • 2 tbsps sesame oil (for frying)
  • 3 small garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 cup chicken broth (low sodium)
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup hoisin
  • 1 tbsp shaoxing wine (optional but recommended)
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp corn starch
  • 2 tbsp cold water

Instructions

  1. Prepare the chicken by slicing it into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Toss the chicken with baking soda and corn starch. Let it rest for 10 minutes.
  3. Heat sesame oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Sear the chicken in the skillet until golden brown and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  5. Add minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Pour in the chicken broth, soy sauce, hoisin, rice wine vinegar, and shaoxing wine (if using).
  7. Stir in the sugar and bring the mixture to a simmer.
  8. Mix corn starch with cold water in a small bowl.
  9. Whisk the corn starch slurry into the sauce, simmering until it thickens.
  10. Return the chicken to the skillet, along with steamed broccoli, and toss to coat everything in the sauce.
