  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the sugar, cornstarch, and salt in a medium saucepan.
  2. Gradually add the milk while continually whisking to create a smooth mixture.
  3. Place the saucepan over medium heat.
  4. Cook the mixture while continuously stirring until it thickens and begins to bubble, approximately 8-10 minutes.
  5. Remove the saucepan from heat.
  6. Stir in the butter and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  7. Pour the pudding into serving dishes or a large bowl.
  8. Cover with plastic wrap, making sure it touches the surface of the pudding to prevent a skin from forming.
  9. Chill in the refrigerator for at least two hours before serving.
