Delightful and rich Vanilla Brown Butter Cupcakes made with browned butter and vanilla bean paste for a nutty flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (brown butter)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla bean paste
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake tin with liners.
  2. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat and cook until golden brown, stirring frequently. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. Whisk together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, and browned butter until combined. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla bean paste.
  4. Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in another bowl. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with buttermilk, beginning and ending with flour. Mix until just combined.
  5. Fill cupcake liners about two-thirds full with batter and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool before frosting.
  6. For frosting, brown some butter using the same method and whip with powdered sugar until fluffy. Frost cooled cupcakes and enjoy!
