Paleo Apple Crisp

A delightful fusion of sweet, tender apples topped with a crunchy, wholesome filling, perfect for health-conscious dessert lovers.

  • 4 to 5 medium apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons coconut oil, melted
  • 1 tablespoon arrowroot starch
  • Juice of ½ lemon
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ½ cup almond flour
  • ½ cup raw pecans
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened coconut flakes
  • 3 tablespoons raw pumpkin seeds
  • 3 tablespoons ground flaxseeds
  • 3 tablespoons coconut oil, melted
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon ground ginger
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • Coconut-milk vanilla-flavored ice cream, for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, toss the sliced apples with maple syrup, melted coconut oil, arrowroot starch, lemon juice, ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, and ground nutmeg until well combined.
  3. Spread the apple mixture into a greased baking dish.
  4. In another bowl, mix the almond flour, chopped pecans, coconut flakes, pumpkin seeds, ground flaxseeds, melted coconut oil, maple syrup, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, ground ginger, and sea salt until the mixture becomes crumbly.
  5. Scatter the topping evenly over the apple filling in the baking dish.
  6. Bake for about 30-35 minutes or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.
  7. Serve warm, topped with coconut-milk vanilla-flavored ice cream for an indulgent touch.
