  • 8 oz Cream Cheese (softened)
  • 1/4 cup Granulated Sugar (can substitute with sugar alternative)
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract (use pure extract for best flavor)
  • 1 tbsp Lemon Juice (optional)
  • 1 beaten Egg (can be replaced with milk)
  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar (no direct replacement)
  • 1 tbsp Milk (dairy-free options available)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface until it’s about 1/8 inch thick.
  3. Cut the pastry into squares, about 4 inches by 4 inches.
  4. Beat together the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and lemon juice (if using) until smooth.
  5. Place a dollop of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each pastry square.
  6. Fold the corners of the pastry over the filling and press them together lightly.
  7. Brush the tops with the beaten egg (or milk) to give them a golden finish.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the pastries are puffed and golden brown.
  9. Mix the powdered sugar and milk to create a glaze while the pastries cool.
  10. Drizzle the glaze over the mini cheese danishes once they are completely cool.
