A delightful gluten-free take on the classic blooming onion, air-fried to crispy perfection.

Ingredients

  • 4 small onions
  • 1 cup gluten-free flour
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1 cup seasoned bread crumbs
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Oil for spraying

Instructions

  1. Cut the tops off the onions and make a few cuts down the sides to create ‘petals’.
  2. Soak in cold water for 30 minutes.
  3. Mix flour, cornstarch, paprika, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  4. Whisk together the egg and milk in another bowl.
  5. Dip the onions in the egg mixture, then coat with the flour mixture.
  6. Place in the air fryer basket and spray lightly with oil.
  7. Cook at 400°F (200°C) for 10-12 minutes or until golden and crispy, flipping halfway through.
  8. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
