Delicious Jalapeno Popper Twists

A gluten-free twist on classic jalapeno poppers, wrapped in flaky pastry and bursting with cheese and spice.

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 225 g cream cheese, softened
  • 100 g shredded sharp cheddar cheese or Monterey Jack
  • 60 g sliced jalapenos, fresh or pickled
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Dipping sauces as needed (such as ranch, sriracha mayo, or honey mustard)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C.
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Combine softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, sliced jalapenos, and garlic powder in a bowl. Mix until smooth and fully incorporated.
  4. Roll out thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface to a thickness of 6 mm.
  5. Cut into strips approximately 5 cm wide.
  6. Place a generous spoonful of cheese filling onto one half of each pastry strip.
  7. Fold the pastry over to enclose the filling, then gently twist each strip to form a spiral.
  8. Arrange the twists on the prepared baking sheet.
  9. Brush the tops with beaten egg to promote even browning.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 15–20 minutes or until twists are puffed and golden brown.
  11. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Present with your choice of dipping sauces.
