Homemade Pizza Sauce

A vibrant and delicious tomato-based sauce perfect for gluten-free pizza nights.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans Whole Peeled Tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Sea Salt
  • 1/5 cup Fresh Basil Leaves
  • 2 teaspoons Roasted Red Chili Flakes
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar

Instructions

  1. Drain the canned whole peeled tomatoes to remove excess liquid.
  2. Pour the tomatoes into a blender or food processor.
  3. Add 1 tablespoon of olive oil to the tomatoes.
  4. Sprinkle in 1 teaspoon of sea salt.
  5. Tear the fresh basil leaves by hand, adding them directly to the mixture.
  6. Incorporate 2 teaspoons of roasted red chili flakes as per your spice preference.
  7. Sprinkle in 1 teaspoon of dried rosemary, if using.
  8. Include 1 teaspoon of sugar only if necessary based on tomato sweetness.
  9. Blend until smooth, adjusting for consistency as needed.
  10. Taste and adjust seasoning, adding more salt or herbs if desired.
  11. Transfer to a pot and simmer on low heat for 20-30 minutes to meld flavors.

Notes

Allowing the sauce to sit overnight in the fridge deepens the flavors.
