  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
  • Coarse sea salt (for sprinkling)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add gluten-free flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough for a few minutes until smooth. Let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes.
  4. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  5. Divide the dough into equal pieces and roll each piece into a rope shape. Twist into a pretzel shape.
  6. In a pot, bring water to a boil and add baking soda. Boil each pretzel for about 30 seconds, then remove and place on the baking sheet.
  7. Brush each pretzel with the beaten egg and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Let cool slightly before serving.
