A delicious and hearty gluten-free shepherd’s pie made with tender meat and creamy mashed potatoes.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef or lamb
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 cups mashed potatoes (made with gluten-free ingredients)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic, sauté until translucent.
  3. Add ground beef or lamb, cook until browned.
  4. Stir in diced carrots, peas, tomato paste, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Transfer the meat mixture to a baking dish and spread evenly.
  6. Top with mashed potatoes, spreading them out to cover the meat mixture completely.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
  8. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian version, substitute the meat with lentils or mushrooms.
  • Ensure all ingredients are certified gluten-free.
  • Can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
