A comforting and savory dish featuring tender, slow-cooked beef served on hoagie rolls with a side of au jus.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 to 2 pounds beef chuck roast
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Hoagie rolls or French bread
  • Sliced provolone or Swiss cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place the beef chuck roast in the crockpot.
  2. Add sliced onion and minced garlic on top of the roast.
  3. Mix together beef broth, water, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, salt, and pepper in a separate bowl. Pour this mixture over the roast.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 480 minutes or until the beef is tender.
  5. Shred the beef with two forks and return it to the pot.
  6. Serve the shredded beef on hoagie rolls or French bread, topped with cheese if desired, and offer the au jus from the crockpot as a dip.
